Uses are: site operation and security, aggregate traffic analysis so we know what to write next, fulfilment of newsletter subscriptions, and support for advertising where advertising is being served.

Where advertising is served, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. If You Subscribe

Newsletter subscriptions use double opt-in verification. Unsubscribe links appear in all email along with our postal address, removal is instant, and subscriber addresses are not rented, sold, or handed to third parties for their own marketing.

Categories of Data

Some information arrives without you doing anything: standard web-server and analytics records covering IP address, device, browser, rough location and pages viewed. Other information arrives because you sent it — newsletter signups, comment fields, and email correspondence. Worth saying outright, since it is the question we get asked: we ask readers not to send us sensitive personal details, and we delete rather than retain anything of that kind that reaches us unprompted.

Children Under 13

Tablevenue is not aimed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 13, or under 16 where that is the applicable age. We do not knowingly gather information from children, and anything of that kind that reaches us is deleted.

Keeping and Protecting Data

Retention runs only as long as the original purpose. Once that ends — you unsubscribe, a comment is deleted, an analytics window closes — the data goes. We apply reasonable technical and organisational safeguards including access restriction and transport encryption, while acknowledging that no system is immune to compromise.

Vendors and Partners

Providers in the chain include the host that serves tablevenue.com, any analytics tool we run, the mailing platform, and ad networks where advertising appears. Where those parties set their own purposes they are independent controllers, and you should read their notices as well as this one.

Rights You Have

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to fix it, ask us to delete it, ask for a portable copy, or object to how it is used. You can also opt out of any sale or sharing of your data for advertising purposes. These rights arise under the GDPR (UK and EU) and under CCPA/CPRA and other US state privacy laws.
